Re: Anybody used an infrared heater?

We have a couple infrared in the barn, were for the mares years ago when they were close to foaling, plus for foal if needed. Mounted them up top on the stalls , I don't know maybe 12 feet up; we have a high ceiling though and open stalls up top, so they were in a safe spot...and they do throw off the heat. They worked well for spot heating, enough to take the freeze off, but it was a drafty barn, we just used them for spot heating. The mares did congregate in that "warm" spot though, they knew where the heat was coming from. We are going to move them to the drafty crib where we work on cars, just haven't done it yet. Would work well in a closed, airtight garage for spot heating.

Obviously it is fueled differently, but I installed infrared lamps to heat our bathroom. The original gas wall heater had been removed before we bought the old house, and my wife gets chilled easily. It is a smallish bath.

They are toasty immediately, and if you turn them on 30 minutes before showering, even the iron tub the shower was added to warms up.

The bulbs have lasted 12 years so far. I used a dimmer switch so I could ease them on and extend their service life.

So though I cannot rate this model, I like infrared heat in general for some applications.

I googled that brand and found some comments that were not too favorable but you need to search and draw your own conclusions. I was watching the infomercial. I ended up buysing a Mr. Heater Big Buddy instead. FWIW
